Javier Joven has failed us as Mayor of Odessa. I hate to be the one to say it, but at every turn he’s mismanaged our city.
After nearly four years on the job, all he has to offer us is finger-pointing and excuses. That is not acceptable.
From trash that isn’t being picked up, to understaffed police and fire departments, missed audits that impact the city’s bond rating, and even something as simple as providing clean and reliable water to residents, Mayor Joven has neglected the everyday issues that directly impact our quality of life.
ODESSA DESERVES LEADERSHIP THAT DELIVERS ON PROMISES AND PRIORITIZES THE NEEDS OF THE PEOPLE
WHO LIVE HERE."
Cal Hendrick is a lifelong Odessan with deep roots in the community. His family has been part of Odessa since the 1880s, starting the first funeral home and hardware store. Raised with conservative values, Cal learned important lessons early in his life both playing sports and working in the Oil Patch for El Paso Products, such as the value of hard work, an understanding on how to finish what he starts, and do things right the first time. Cal is a true example of West Texas grit.

Today, Cal and his family support and attend Connection Christian Church, continuing a 118-year family tradition. Cal and Amy celebrate 34 years of marriage and have two adult children who grew up in Odessa.

Professionally, Cal has a 34-year legal career. His legal expertise covers oil & gas litigation, civil trial law, and employment/civil rights litigation. In 2019, Cal transitioned from private practice to become General Counsel for McAnally Wilkins Insurance, now Alliant Insurance, where he currently serves as Regional Director, Risk Solutions. Cal also runs a mediation practice, focusing on resolving conflicts and serving others.

CAL'S PLAN FOR ODESSA
Cal Hendrick. Identify a Problem. Find a Solution.
All city governments exist to promote prosperity in their local areas and to provide the core services and infrastructure which are necessary to support the private sector and foster the highest quality of life possible for residents. Right now, the City of Odessa is falling far short and is not properly serving the needs of the community. Ultimately, the responsibility for these failures lies at the feet of the mayor.
Cal Hendrick will be a different kind of mayor, one who is focused on delivering core city services and then getting out of the way to allow private industry to thrive. As an experienced attorney and mediator, Cal will better manage city policies, make fair decisions, be transparent and honest, and ensure our city works for the taxpayers, not the other way around.
If you want solutions, not excuses, then vote Cal Hendrick for Mayor of Odessa.
